Tasting notes
The 1964 Château La Conseillante is a beautifully mature Pomerol, showcasing the graceful evolution of a classic vintage. In the glass, it reveals a medium red color with garnet and brown hues at the rim, a visual testament to its age and elegance.
The nose is delicate and expressive, offering a bouquet of dried cherries, faded florals, and licorice, underpinned by creamy undertones. As it opens, more complex nuances emerge—tobacco, truffle, smoke, cocoa, and even a faint note of cold steel, adding depth and intrigue.
On the palate, the wine is silky and balanced, with gentle yet persistent tannins and a refined structure. The finish is earthy and clay-like, laced with sweet cherry, echoing the wine’s Pomerol roots.
This is a wine that offers both charm and complexity, a testament to La Conseillante’s longevity and finesse.
