Armagnac by Joy - 1965 - 750ml
WHAT THE PRODUCERS ARE SAYING
Fresh on the palate, revealing all the youthfulness of this already well-balanced armagnac.
When Paul and Marguerite Gessler left Switzerland in 1927, their journey took them to the place called Joÿ. In this Gers haven, they find a dormant land. Immediately putting themselves to work, they revive the sleeping domain. On the well-exposed slopes, the vines regain vigor, drawing their sap from this favorable soil. Two years passed are enough for the Gessler family to distill their first Armagnac. Thus was born the 1929 vintage, inaugurating a lineage that will no longer derogate from the vitality of the vineyard. From 1946, André Gessler, the son, took over the reins of the estate with his wife Véronique. Stimulated by this generous land, the vineyard expands to occupy 20 hectares. The first selections of grape varieties date from this post-war period. Colombard and Gros Manseng then established themselves on the Joÿ estate, thus prefiguring future fame. The year 1975 marks the arrival of Roland and Olivier who take over from their father. With them Muscadelle and the first red grape varieties are introduced. Their arrival inaugurates the modernity of Joÿ and the advent of the first bottles.
