Wine Region: Champagne - France
The 2016 vintage “Experience” cuvée from the Champagne House Agrapart is an ultimate challenge towards "nature" champagne. This cuvée is made from old Avize vines and produced without any exogenous input. A 100% natural champagne.
“Experience” 2016 is intensely pure and aromatic with a very elegant nose. The experience is successful, here it is the fruit and nothing but the fruit, in a pure and sincere expression of the terroir. On the nose, it is obvious, frank notes of fresh grapes, but also white fruits associated with mineral scents of chalk, very delicate lime. The palate is suave, and saline to then vibrate very ripe fruits. The finish is savory, pure and precise, terribly fresh and stimulating.
About the winery: Founded in 1894, Champagne Agrapart has become one of the finest grower estates in the Cote des Blancs. The current owner, Pascal Agrapart, has been making wines there since 1984. The 12 hectares of vines that make up the estate lie largely in the Grand Cru villages of Avize, Cramant, Oiry, and Oger. Pascal Agrapart works according to natural rhythms and sensibilities, without any chemical pesticides or herbicides. He always ferments his wines with indigenous yeasts, which he feels is crucial to the expression of terroir, and a portion of the wines are aged in old, 600-liter oak casks. The organic life of the soil assures the health and productivity of the vineyard.
