Tasting Notes:This Cuvée Mineral 2017 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is elaborated from a 40 years old Avize and Cramant Chardonnay vines. Half of the production is aged in oak barrels. This is a single cru, 2017 vintage champagne where the terroir’s diversity of Avize is highlighted. This cuvée is aged for 5 years and is manually stirred, reflecting the mineral spirit of the terroir.   Every bottle mentions on an inside label the date of bottling and disgorgement.

This is typically the saltiest, most mineral wine in the Agrapart range. Like all the Agrapart wines, the quality is remarkably consistent, with the only variation due to vintage. Right now, it is a model of compressed intensity, a ball of citrus and chalky energy with a long, tapering, salty close. Mineral by name, mineral by nature.

 "The 2017 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Minéral has turned out nicely, exhibiting notes of orange zest, Meyer lemon, white flowers and hazelnuts, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless palate that's layered, vinous and elegantly mineral, exhibiting a charming profile that will make this vintage approachable young. "The 2017 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Minéral Grand Cru is gorgeous. It offers a beguiling mix of lemon confit, marzipan, spice and graphite, melding together notable textural richness and vibrancy. This is an especially open-knit edition of the Minéral. That's not a bad thing at all. There's an exotic quality to the 2017 that is perhaps not characteristic but makes this quite enjoyable. About the winery: Founded in 1894, Champagne Agrapart has become one of the finest grower estates in the Cote des Blancs. The current owner, Pascal Agrapart, has been making wines there since 1984. The 12 hectares of vines that make up the estate lie largely in the Grand Cru villages of Avize, Cramant, Oiry, and Oger. Pascal Agrapart works according to natural rhythms and sensibilities, without any chemical pesticides or herbicides. He always ferments his wines with indigenous yeasts, which he feels is crucial to the expression of terroir, and a portion of the wines are aged in old, 600-liter oak casks. The organic life of the soil assures the health and productivity of the vineyard.
