OUR NOTES

The most prestigious Calvados of various ages in a specially-designed Saint-Louis crystal carafe. In 2013, it was only fitting for Chateau du Breuil to introduce a new product in tribute to its four centuries of existence. The Calvados, which is presented in a specially-designed Saint-Louis crystal carafe, bears the name 4 Centuries of Legend. Blending the Calvados was the pinnacle of a particularly complex elaboration process, the secrets of which are held by our Cellar Master. Dipping into our "library" of the best, most prestigious Calvados of various ages - some of which have been ageing for 40 years - he made selections from small casks that have been maturing with attentive, individual care. Its fruity taste is unique; the attack is frank and presents flavors of crystallized quince, Tatin apple pie and spices. It then opens slowly towards aromas of dried fruits, then grapes and prune. The mouth is complex, and opens on aromas of coffee grains, new leather and tobacco. Honey and hazelnut invite you to a final pinnacle of an exceptional length.

Château du Breuil is one of Normandy’s most prestigious Calvados distilleries, producing Calvados Pays d’Auge (AOC), Pommeau de Normandie, Calvados liqueur and plum brandy. The company is exclusively distributed through traditional networks and exports 55% of its sales to around fifty countries. Fruit is grown in the grounds of Chateau du Breuil on 42 hectares of hillside orchard, and naturally fermented without additives. Maturation takes place for two years in Limousin or Troncais oak casks. Enjoyable consumed straight both during or after a meal, but also makes for a refreshing Summer drink when mixed with tonic.
