Chateau du Breuil - calvados - millesime 2002 - pays d'Auge - 700 ml
Made by Michel Hubert on his farm in the Pay D'age les Vergers de la Moriniere county, Hubert Calvados Pays d’Auge 2002 is a sweet calvados made with no fewer than 15 apple varieties, as well as a handful of pears. This single-vintage expression has been aged in oak barrels to ramp up the levels of complexity. Bursting with apples and a refreshing greenness, along with hints of vanilla, cinnamon and caramel. There’s the oak maturation influence on the nose, too.
Château du Breuil is one of Normandy’s most prestigious Calvados distilleries, producing Calvados Pays d’Auge (AOC), Pommeau de Normandie, Calvados liqueur and plum brandy. The company is exclusively distributed through traditional networks and exports 55% of its sales to around fifty countries. Fruit is grown in the grounds of Chateau du Breuil on 42 hectares of hillside orchard, and naturally fermented without additives. Maturation takes place for two years in Limousin or Troncais oak casks. Enjoyable consumed straight both during or after a meal, but also makes for a refreshing Summer drink when mixed with tonic.
