WHAT THE WINEMAKERS ARE SAYING
“100% Chenin Blanc. The botrytized Chenin grapes are picked by hand. The whole process is adapted to the character of the grapes in order to enhance the bouquet and taste as much as possible: careful hand-harvesting, delicate crushing, and cool, slow fermentation. Aging takes place in 400-liter casks for 12 months. The bouquet gradually reveals its complex notes, with at first a flowery blossom then, after aeration, white fruits (peaches, pears, quinces) and grapefruit appear. A slight hint of vanilla at the end reinforces this fine, sweet wine. Richness, smoothness, and persistence are the highlights of this wine.” Philippe Germain
OUR NOTES
The Château de la Roulerie is located in the heart of the vineyards of Anjou, in the town of Saint-Aubin-de-Luigné. At its head, Philippe Germain. He farms about twenty hectares in organic farming with wines in the appellations Anjou and Coteaux-du-Layon, the latter being renowned for its sweet and mellow wines. He perpetuates gestures and a rigorous know-how to express with precision and delicacy chenin, emblematic grape variety of the Loire Valley that particularly affectionates Philippe Germain. And it’s not only the wines that are worth seeing but also the property, listed on the circuit of the old houses of Saint-Aubin-de-Luigné. Surrounded by a pleasant park, the castle enjoys a superb view of the valley of St Aubin.
