Wine Region: Bordeaux - France
Grape: 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 17% Merlot.
Tasting notes: Full, authoritative and dense, this wine should be at its best between 2018 and 2035!
"Blueberry and blackberry aromas with hints of mint. Full body, with fine tannins and a chocolate, vanilla and berry aftertaste. This builds on the palate with fruit and tannins. Extremely polished." James Suckling
"The 2010 Langoa-Barton has a very serious complex and involving bouquet with blackberry, cedar, sage and light sous-bois aromas that are exquisitely defined. The oak here is seamlessly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple rounded tannins that frame its payload of black fruit laced with white pepper and cedar. It fans out brilliantly towards the finish. It is so velvety in texture that you could almost broach this now." Vinous
Expert rating: Vinous 95/100 | James Suckling 93/100 | Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 93/100
About the winery:Since 1821, generation upon generation of the Barton family have written the chapters of Chateau Langoa Barton. Owners to this day of the renowned Bordeaux property, awarded Grand Cru Classé status in 1855, Saint Julien is where the roots and the heart of the Barton spirit can be felt.
The vines, which have an average age of 35 years, are planted in a terroir of gravel and clay soils. Chateau Langoa Barton wines are made by traditional vinification, with alcoholic and malolactic fermentation (often combined for co-inoculation) taking place in large, 200 hectoliter wooden vats. Barton wines are then aged in French oak barrels, of which around 60% are new, for a period of around 16 to 18 months, depending on the vintage. The wines of Chateau Langoa are known for their wonderful cellaring potential, reaching the peak of maturity only after 12 to 30 years of ageing in the bottle.
