WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING
“The opaque bluish-purple 2012 Smith Haut Lafite offers up notes of licorice, graphite, blueberry and blackberry fruit, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, stunningly ripe, velvety tannins and a long, long finish. This is another sensational effort from the Cathiards that is perfectly balanced, complex, super-rich and pure. Drink it over the next 20-25 years.”Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
OUR NOTES
Located in the heart of the appellation of Pessac-Léognan Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte is one of the oldest chateau in Bordeaux, dating to 1365. Ski champions Daniel and Florence Cathiard purchased the iconic property in 1990, initiating a period of investment and renewed passion. Of the chateau's 78 hectares of vines, 67 are dedicated to produce red wine (35% Merlot, 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc) and 11 to produce a predominately Sauvignon Blanc white. Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte wines develop a vibrant expressiveness and complexity marked by perfectly ripe fruits.
