WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING
“Made by the traditional saignée method and a co-fermented blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, the Delamotte NV Brut Rosé displays a beautifully intense dark salmon color followed by a deep and vinous bouquet with delicate red fruit aromas, a subtle touch of brioche, great elegance and subtle freshness. Full-bodied and round yet dry and complex on the palate, this is a dense and mouth-filling but very elegant and refined rosé composed of fruit from great terroirs such as Bouzy, Ambonnay and Tours-sur-Marne (for Pinot) and Mesnil-sur-Oger (for Chardonnay). The finish is pure and fresh, revealing delicate red fruit combined with a clear and balancing structure. Aged for three or four years on the lees, this is an excellent rosé.” Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate
Delamotte is one of Champagne’s oldest houses. François Delamotte – a vineyard owner in Reims – founded the House in 1760. Its location is one of Delamotte’s richest assets. Hidden away in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, the flora and the sloping vineyards give the grapes their exceptional character, delivering delicate, consistent champagnes. The soil is chalky. Championing this exceptional terroir, drawing the best from it while maintaining absolute respect for the vines and the environment - that's what Delamotte is all about.
There is a hint of the exotic about the making of Delamotte Rosé champagne, and perhaps a little eccentricity too! It is made with the traditional bleeding technique rarely used in Champagne. Colour and aromatic range are extracted from the grape skin. How? They are left to macerate in their skin before and/or during fermentation. This delivers an elegant and structured wine thanks to Grand Cru Pinot Noir growing on the south-east facing hillsides of the Montagne de Reims: Ambonnay, Bouzy and Tours-sur-Marne. In association with Chardonnay from Mesnil-sur-Oger, this rosé is a dazzling salmon pink in colour, with an amazingly complex wine sparkling beneath. After bottling, Delamotte Rosé matures for around three years on the lees before disgorgement.
