WHAT THE WINEMAKERS ARE SAYING
“ 100% Chardonnay, this unique and rare wine combines the Clos Des Meix's subtlety with the vigor of nearby Corton Charlemagne.
Light golden robe. Silky and fine. A very refined wine. Pleasantly mineral, ample and persistent."
This Corton, likewise with the reds, can be drunk when young, but can also age 4 to 8 years in the cellar.
OUR NOTES
Domaine Comte Senard produces some of the best Corton. The Burgundy village of Aloxe Corton (692 acres) lies midway between côte de Beaune and côte de Nuits.
In 1857, Jules Senard, great grandfather of the current owner created the original “Corton Clos Des Meix” vineyard. Covering a surface of 6 acres, the vineyard has been a “Monopole” (under exclusive control) ever since. Over the years, the acquisition of prestigious appellations such as Corton Clos Du Roi, Corton Bressandes and Corton Paulands has increased the prestige and high reputation of the Comte Senard Estate. Since the year 2000, Lorraine has followed on from her father. Lorraine’s approach is very much inspired from the previous generations’ respect in keeping the Corton spirit alive: deep robe, red fruit aromas, tannic and powerful. They have opted for a sustainable-organic approach that best suits their convictions: the non-use of herbicides and insecticides, sustainable grass-covering and ploughing techniques throughout the Estate.
