Tasting notes: Beautiful garnet purplish and dark colour. The nose express black fruits aromas, spices and chocolate notes. On the palate, the wine is powerful. Tannins are silky and smoothy. Beautiful length. Great potential of cellaring.
Expert Ratings:
JANCIS ROBINSON MW -17+/20Cask sample. Deep, intense, very plush on the palate. Fresh acidity allied to dark-berry fruit. Spice notes. Lots of weight here. Lives up to the grand cru (and Échezeaux) name. - Andy Howard MW
About the Winery: Domaine de Perdrix owes its name to the first vintage of Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Perdrix, which the domaine runs as a monopole. This is one of the three domaines that the Devillard family owns (along with the Château de Chamirey and Domaine de la Ferté on the Chalonnaise coast). As well as superb plots in Nuits and Nuits premier crus, the domaine produces Vosne and an Echézeaux. Since the Devillard family took over the domaine in 1996, the wines have continued to gain in definition. The family made wise choices such as installing a cooler cellar to allow longer aging periods with fewer heated barriques. The yields are low, the maturity is optimal and the sustainable farming is remarkable. The domaine's red wines are powerful whilst still very refined. They have remarkable aging potential.
