Valentin Zusslin - Bollenberg Harmonie 2009- Pinot Noir - 750 ml
WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING
“I had the 2009 Pinot Noir Bollenberg Harmonie several times in 2016 and it was a long road to find my freedom with this powerful and intense 14% alcohol wine. I feel in love with it in a blind tasting during a meditation weekend in Southern France and I was happy to find the love again in January 2017 at the Domaine. The wine is dark, deep, ripe and aromatic, very pure and chalky, with potted strawberry, plum and fig aromas. It is pure, ripe and concentrated on the deep and mineral nose, showing some nougat and floral, even algae flavors; whereas the palate is rather creamy, round, more oxidative than the unsulfured 2010, but also the low sulfured 2011, 2013 and 2014. There is a lot of energy and tension in this wine, also purity and finesse, but the warm vintage with its fig aromas shows through every second.” Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
Established in 1691 by M. Jodocus Cisle (former name of Zusslin), Domaine Valentin Zusslin is now run by two generations of the Zusslin family who are following in the footsteps of their forbears. The winery is based in Orschwihr, south of Colmar, and the vines are planted on the slopes of the Bollenberg, Clos Liebenberg and Grand Cru Pfingstberg. In 1997 the domaine converted to biodynamic viticulture. Much of the work in the vineyard and in the cellar is done by hand, in order that the grapes can express the full potential of the unique terroirs of the Domaine.
