93/100 - Wine Enthusiast
"This wine displays a complex bouquet of red fruits, earthy undertones, and a hint of spice. It offers a refined palate with silky tannins and a long, mineral finish. "
About the Winery: The Muzard domain belongs to a very old Santenoise family where they have been wine growers from father to son for nine generations (Jacques Muzard in 1645). Mr and Mme Lucien Muzard structured the vineyard in the1960s first of all by renting the vineyards, then gradually buying them.
Claude and Herve Muzard now work the 16 hectares of the family domain, distributed over various 'climats' with Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet and Pommard. The overall production of the domain is 5% white wine.
The business has preserved traditional methods (manual harvest, stalks removed from grapes and matured in vats) continuing to improve the quality thanks to new techniques (harvesting in 20 kg crates, sorting table, temperature control during wine-making). All the wines are matured in oak casks with a distribution, according to vintages, of 30 to 40% of new casks.
