Burgundy

Domaine Yvon Clerget

Cote de Beaune, Clos de Vougeot

The Domain

At the Clergets, going down to the cellar means going back in time. Go on a journey through 7 centuries and discover the secrets of a family that has lived in Burgundy since 1268. The family’s love for the Burgundian terroir is expressed in each of their vintages. A story woven from father to son over 28 generations. Since the arrival of Thibaud, Domaine Yvon Clerget not only has a new face, it has a new destiny. Trained in France and abroad, this wine-trotter keeps his feet on the ground: from the vine to the marketing, Thibaud is on all fronts. His ambition? To take his wines further and further. His outlook, his humility and his taste for adventure make him one of the most promising winemakers of his generation.

The Style

Thibaud displays a sense of farmers’ wisdom, rigour and respect for his terroirs, much like the generations before him. Bursting with energy, Thibaud yet belongs to a new generation of curious and open-minded winemakers. He is never rigid in his principles nor locked in strict rules. For him, each vintage is a new challenge and a new adventure. From Meursault to Vougeot, Pommard and Volnay, he treats each of his terroirs with the utmost respect and grows his grapes to an irreproachable quality. Back at the Domaine, they are carefully sorted and undergo cold pre-fermentation maceration to preserve the delicacy of the pinot noir grape. Fermentation occurs naturally, followed by gentle treading and extraction.
