Clos de Vougeot

Clos de Vougeot is Burgundy's largest Grand Cru at just over 50 hectares, enclosed since the 12th century by a stone wall built by the monks of Cîteaux Abbey. That size is also its complication: with more than 80 different owners farming plots across varied soil types and elevations, quality can range from very good to extraordinary depending on the parcel and producer.

At its best — typically from plots higher on the slope, closer to the neighbouring Grands Échezeaux — Clos de Vougeot delivers powerful, structured Pinot Noir with real depth and ageing potential. The historic château at its centre remains the ceremonial home of Burgundy's wine brotherhood, the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin.
