Languedoc & Roussillon Wines

Vines have grown here since Greek settlers first planted them in the 5th century BC, making Languedoc-Roussillon one of France's oldest wine regions and, at roughly 300,000 hectares, comfortably its largest by area — responsible for over a third of national production. Long known for bulk wine, the region's quality revolution took hold from the late 1970s, led by pioneering estates on its limestone garrigue and schist terraces working with Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, and Mourvèdre.
