Grape
Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend, with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Malbec and rare grape varieties
Tasting notes
A deep purple colour and a complex nose with layer upon layer of fruit: ripe blackcurrant, cassis, plum, black cherry, bramble and blueberry, with bay leaf and cedar. Very fresh and fruity, with soft, ripe tannins, it will drink well young but age beautifully for many years, especially in magnum. Serve with lamb, beef or game.
About the Winery
Mas de Daumas Gassac holds an important place in the history of French wine. Founded in the early 1970s by Aimé and Véronique Guibert in the Gassac valley near Aniane, it showed the world that Languedoc could produce truly great, age-worthy wines, and it is often called the “Grand Cru of the Languedoc”. Today the estate is run by their sons.
The red is built on Cabernet Sauvignon with a host of supporting varieties, grown on old, non-cloned vines in small plots scattered among the wild garrigue, and aged with very little new oak.
