Domaine Bruno Clair

Domaine Bruno Clair is one of Burgundy's most respected and consistent producers — a family estate based in Marsannay, at the northern tip of the Côte de Nuits, farming 23 hectares across some of the appellation's finest terroirs. Bruno Clair, who began bottling his own wines in 1979, is a meticulous winemaker whose wines are celebrated for their precision, balance, and extraordinary ageing potential.

The domaine's flagship wines come from Gevrey-Chambertin, where Bruno Clair owns several Premier and Grand Cru parcels: Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru (a wine consistently compared to Grand Cru in quality), Cazetiers 1er Cru, and Clos de Bèze Grand Cru. These wines are characterised by deep colour, firm structure, and a classic profile of dark fruit, earth, and cedar that develops magnificently over 15 to 25 years.

Beyond Gevrey, the domaine produces exceptional wines from Marsannay (including a rare Marsannay Rosé), Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru, Chambolle-Musigny, and Savigny-lès-Beaune. The Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is one of the domaine's great white wines — powerful and age-worthy.

Marsannay, the domaine's home appellation, is one of Burgundy's great underrated villages. Bruno Clair's single-vineyard Marsannay wines — Les Longeroies, Les Vaudenelles — offer genuine Côte de Nuits character at a fraction of Grand Cru prices.
