Tasting notes
An extremely focused and detailed bouquet of wild berries, plums and mineral-inflected redcurrant and strawberry, lifted by orange zest, rose petals and violets. The palate combines the cool precision of Clos Saint-Jacques with the charm of the 2023 vintage, finishing long and refined. A wine for the patient, with a drinking window stretching over several decades. Decant if opening young and serve with roast game birds, duck or beef.
About the Winery
Domaine Bruno Clair is a family estate based in Marsannay-la-Côte and one of the most respected names in Burgundy, admired for pure, precise wines that faithfully express each vineyard, from Marsannay through Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny and Vosne-Romanée down to Savigny-lès-Beaune.
Clos Saint-Jacques is widely regarded as a Premier Cru of Grand Cru quality and is shared by only a handful of domaines. Bruno Clair's holding of about one hectare was planted half in 1957 and half in 1972 from massal selection, on shallow brown limestone soils high on the slope.
