Gevrey-Chambertin

Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest and arguably most powerful red wine village on Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, home to no fewer than nine Grand Crus — including Chambertin itself, the appellation Napoleon is said to have favoured. Its deep, iron-rich limestone soils give Gevrey's Pinot Noir a structure and dark-fruited intensity that sets it apart from the more perfumed wines of neighbouring Chambolle-Musigny.

Beyond the Grand Crus, Gevrey-Chambertin's village and Premier Cru wines — from sites like Clos Saint-Jacques and Lavaux Saint-Jacques — offer serious depth and ageing potential at more accessible price points. This is Burgundy at its most robust: dense, tannic in youth, and capable of decades in the cellar.
