Givry
Givry is one of the four principal villages of Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise, a region south of the Côte de Beaune that has long been overshadowed by its more famous neighbour despite sharing much of the same limestone terroir. Legend holds that Givry was a favourite of King Henri IV, and the village's red wines — soft, fruit-forward Pinot Noir with real Burgundian character — remain some of the Côte Chalonnaise's most food-friendly.
With numerous Premier Crus and prices well below those of the Côte de Beaune, Givry offers genuine value for drinkers seeking authentic Burgundy without the premium attached to the region's household names.
