Champagne Delamotte

Champagne Delamotte is the sister house of the legendary Champagne Salon — both estates are based in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, the most prestigious Grand Cru village in the Côte des Blancs and the spiritual home of blanc de blancs Champagne. Founded in 1760, Delamotte is one of the oldest Champagne houses still in operation, and one of the best-kept secrets in the appellation.

The relationship with Salon is fundamental to understanding Delamotte's quality. In years when Salon is not produced — which is the majority of years — the Grand Cru Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger goes into Delamotte Blanc de Blancs rather than being declassified. This means that in non-Salon vintages, Delamotte Blanc de Blancs contains the very same fruit that would otherwise become Salon — giving it a quality far beyond its price point.

The Delamotte range includes the classic Brut NV (a blend of Grand Cru Chardonnay with Pinot Noir and Meunier, elegant and food-friendly), Blanc de Blancs NV (100% Grand Cru Chardonnay, mineral and precise), Blanc de Blancs Millésimé (a vintage blanc de blancs from the finest years — the 2018 and 2014 are outstanding), and Rosé NV (delicate and strawberry-scented).
