Alsace Wines

Recognised as its own AOC and stretching along the eastern foothills of the Vosges mountains, Alsace covers around 15,500 hectares of vines and is home to 51 Grand Cru vineyards, the highest tier of a region famed for growing its noble varieties — Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Muscat — as single varietals rather than blends. Sheltered by the mountains' rain shadow, one of the driest climates in France, and a mosaic of granite, limestone, and marl soils give Alsace wines their trademark purity and minerality.
