Chevalier-Montrachet

Chevalier-Montrachet is one of Burgundy's smallest and most rarefied Grand Crus, a 7.5-hectare strip of vineyard perched just above its legendary neighbour, Le Montrachet, on the border of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. The higher, steeper position gives Chevalier-Montrachet a slightly lighter frame than Montrachet itself, but no less precision — taut, mineral, and intensely aromatic white Burgundy that ranks among the very finest expressions of Chardonnay anywhere in the world.

Production is tiny and demand is immense, making Chevalier-Montrachet one of the genuine trophy wines of white Burgundy, sought after by collectors who have exhausted the more (relatively) attainable Grand Crus of the Côte de Beaune.
