Corton

Corton is Burgundy's only Grand Cru red wine appellation on the Côte de Beaune, a hill shared by the villages of Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix, and Pernand-Vergelesses. Its steep slopes and varied exposures produce Pinot Noir of real power — dense, structured, and long-lived, closer in style to the great wines of Gevrey-Chambertin than to the softer reds typical of the Côte de Beaune.

Because the Grand Cru spans multiple villages and dozens of individual climats, quality and style can vary considerably between producers and plots, but the finest examples rank among the most age-worthy red Burgundies made, capable of developing for two decades or more.
