Beaujolais Cru Wines

Established as an appellation in 1936, with its ten crus recognised individually through 1938 and 1946, Beaujolais covers some 18,000 hectares of granite and schist hillsides at the southern tip of Burgundy. Gamay reaches its most serious expression here, particularly across the ten crus — Saint-Amour, Juliénas, Chénas, Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie, Chiroubles, Morgon, Régnié, Brouilly, and Côte de Brouilly — wines built for structure and ageing rather than early drinking.
