DOMAINE DE LA BORDE

Domaine de la Borde is a tiny Jura estate in the appellation of Arbois-Pupillin that makes excellent, high-character wines. Winemaker Julien Mareschel might not have much space to work with, but he certainly makes the most of it. Three and a half of the domaine's five hectares are dedicated to growing white varieties (Chardonnay and Savagnin), with the remaining hectare and a half going to red (Trousseau, Pinot Noir and Ploussard). A unique terroir, strict hand-harvesting of the grapes, and a meticulous vinification process ensure the wines have a distinct sense of place—not to mention the kind of nuance and head-turning character that adventurous palates are always searching for.

DOMAINE ROLET

Domaine Rolet is established as one of the Jura vineyard flagships and its wines propose the whole terroir richness through the large range of Jura grape varieties. Domaine Rolet is the project of families who wanted to establish a Domaine between tradition and modernity, respecting the Jura wines great diversity. These 3 families are the Devillard family (winemakers in Bourgogne for 5 generations and owners of Château de Chamirey in Mercurey, Domaine des Perdrix in Côte de Nuits, Domaine de la Ferté in Givry and Domaine de la Garenne in Mâconnais), the Flambert family (hotels owners for several generations), and the Dupuis family (entrepreneurs family, specialized in martial arts equipment). They led the Rolet production to a high level of excellence, each and every vintage. Their philosophy is based on meticulous attention to vineyards, small yields, and optimal ripening of grapes.

CLOS DES GRIVES

As the first Jura estate to use organic farming methods, Le Clos des Grives is Ecocert certified since 1968. Le Clos des Grives was created in 1962 by Mr. Gaston Charbonnier, a pioneer in organic viticulture. Claude Charbonnier, after the death of his father in 1982, took over and continued to cultivate the vineyard in an environmentally friendly way. In 2007, Claude Charbonnier decided to sell his business to François Petite. The latter will invest in 2011 in a building to house the winery and outbuildings. In April 2017, Benoit Mulin, his cousin Christophe Mulin, and a few other shareholders acquired the estate. The Clos des Grives now owns more than four hectares of AOC Cotes du Jura. The five Jura grape varieties are vinified in the cellar: Chardonnay and Savagnin for the white wines, Pinot Noir, Poulsard and Trousseau for the red.

DOMAINE COURBET

Founded in 1869, this family-run estate, like most during that time, was originally structured on a poly-culture model; vines, grain and livestock. It gradually evolved to producing only grapes and wine over the last 50 years and is now run by Jean-Marie (father) and Damien (son) Courbet. The estate now comprises 7.5 hectares of vineyards. Half are located on the slopes directly below the famous village of Château-Chalon which is arguably the greatest appellation of the region. The balance of the vineyards are located nearby in the communes of Domblans and Menétru. Since 2005, the Courbets have been farming biodynamically and the estate is currently in transition to organic certification. All harvests are manual and only indigenous yeasts are used. Minimal use of sulfur dioxide is used and the doses range from 20-30ppm.
