Wine Region: Bordeaux - France (4th Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Julien in 1855)
Grape: 49% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc
Tasting notes: A vibrant nose, bursting with crisp fruit and wild flowers. On the palate, the fruit is lively, generous and silky. This wine presents a beautiful saline elegance.
Aromas of raspberries, currants, pencil shavings and sweet spices introduce the 2019 Beychevelle, a medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping wine that's fleshy and seamless, with a generous core of fruit, ripe tannins and succulent acids, concluding with an expansive finish. This is an open-knit, demonstrative Saint-Julien that will offer a broad drinking window. - Robert Parker

96/100 James Suckling
Gorgeous aromas of currants, crushed stones, blackberries and flowers. Full-bodied with refined tannins that are long and very polished. Creamy texture. It goes on for minutes. Lovely energy and sophistication to this.
96/100 Vinous
The 2019 Beychevelle has a very appealing, quite intellectual, pencil box and earthy nose that unfurls in the glass, taut and focused, the oak supremely well integrated. The palate is beautifully balanced with finely-sculpted tannins, wonderful balance, fresh and mineral-driven with a precise and complex finish. Superb sapidity, this is top notch with a long future ahead.
96/100 Wine Enthusiast
Dense and concentrated, this wine is layered in dark tannins, rich chocolate and black fruits. The estate is producing richer wines than in the past without sacrificing the Saint-Julien style.
94/100 Decanter
A confident and well expressed Beychevelle, this is bristling with blackberry and cassis fruits, creamy through the mid palate as so many of the best wines are in this vintage. It's broad shouldered which takes it a little out of appellation signature, but the glamour is well balanced by a lovely crushed mint leaf finish.

93/100 Wine Spectator
Dark, with plum, açaí and blackberry compote notes, this is juicy and expressive. Features racy wood spice, graphite and apple wood notes, which give this a structured feel through the finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2025.
About the Winery:
Chateau Beychevelle is a prestigious Classified Growth with a soul forged by three centuries of history and legends. Indeed, over the centuries, powerful families have marked this castle in many ways. Under Henry II in particular, Beychevelle was the stronghold of the Dukes of Epernon. The first of them, Jean-Louis Nogaret of Valletta, is at the origin of the name of the Domain. According to the legend, the ships passing in front of his castle had to lower their sails in sign of allegiance. Built in 1757, Château Beychevelle is still one of Bordeaux’s finest. Since the Middle Ages, the owners of the Château have endowed the estate with the best parcels and perpetuated over the centuries the tradition that still presides over the destiny of this Grand Cru Classé in 1855.
The fabulous terroir of Beychevelle covers 250 hectares of which about 90 are planted with vines.
The vinification is traditional and aging is 18 months in oak barrels, renewed every year by half. Innovative by its architecture inspired by the legends surrounding Beychevelle, and by its technique, the new winery further reinforces the expert work carried out by the Château team. By combining innovation and tradition, Château Beychevelle demonstrates its “haute couture” know-how, perpetuated for many years by men of power and women of taste.
