Château de Lamarque

With origins dating back to the 11th century, Château de Lamarque is one of the most historic estates in the Haut-Médoc. The medieval fortress, built to defend the region, has long been a symbol of strength — a character that also defines the château’s wines.

The estate spans around 35 hectares of vineyards, planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Gravelly soils near the Gironde estuary provide excellent drainage and ripening conditions, giving wines of structure, depth, and ageing potential, yet with the finesse typical of the Médoc.

For decades, the château has been guided by the Pontac family, whose stewardship has preserved both the historical château and its reputation for producing wines that consistently overdeliver in quality and value.
