Macon-Aze

Mâcon-Azé is one of the many village-designated appellations of the Mâconnais, Burgundy's southernmost sub-region, where the wines shift from Pinot Noir toward Gamay for reds and increasingly expressive Chardonnay for whites. Azé's limestone soils sit close to those of the neighbouring Pouilly-Fuissé appellation, giving its white wines real freshness and fruit purity, typically at a fraction of Pouilly-Fuissé's price.

Mâconnais wines have undergone a quality renaissance over the past two decades, as growers increasingly farm with the same care traditionally reserved for the Côte d'Or further north. Mâcon-Azé is a genuine everyday-drinking discovery for Chardonnay lovers.
