Chateau Poujeaux

Among the most admired estates of the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation, Château Poujeaux has long been cherished by connoisseurs — even former French President Georges Pompidou, who famously served it at the Élysée Palace.

In 2008, the estate entered a new era when Philippe and Matthieu Cuvelier, also owners of Château Clos Fourtet in Saint-Émilion, took over. Their vision combines respect for tradition with renewed energy and ambition, further elevating Poujeaux’s reputation as one of the Médoc’s best values.

The vineyard extends across a single contiguous plot on the gravel mounds of Grand-Poujeaux, planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Each parcel is vinified separately, allowing the terroir’s nuances to shine through and giving Château Poujeaux its hallmark style: elegant, structured wines with rich fruit and remarkable balance.

Renowned for its consistency across vintages, Château Poujeaux offers wines that are approachable in youth yet capable of ageing gracefully. It stands as a true expression of Médoc character — refined, generous, and deeply authentic.
