Founded in the 13th century by Benedictine monks, Château Carbonnieux is one of the oldest and most storied estates in Bordeaux. Located in the prestigious Pessac-Léognan appellation, the estate benefits from diverse gravel and sandy soils that provide excellent natural drainage and ideal conditions for both red and white grape varieties.
The white vineyards are planted mainly to Sauvignon Blanc (70%) with Sémillon (30%), producing wines renowned for their freshness, minerality, and ageing potential. The red vineyards are composed of Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (5%), and Petit Verdot (5%), yielding structured, elegant wines that balance fruit, finesse, and depth.
As one of the benchmark producers of Graves and Pessac-Léognan, Château Carbonnieux is celebrated worldwide for both its Grand Vin blanc and Grand Vin rouge, which continue to represent Bordeaux tradition at its finest.
