Château du Tertre
With origins dating back to the 12th century, Château du Tertre is one of the oldest estates in Margaux and was classified as a Fifth Growth (Cinquième Cru Classé) in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Its 52 hectares of vineyards, planted on deep gravel soils, have remained intact for centuries and represent one of the most elevated terroirs in the Margaux appellation.
Renowned for their elegance, finesse, and aromatic complexity, the wines of Château du Tertre reflect the soul of this unique terroir. The estate has earned a worldwide reputation for producing Cabernet Sauvignon–driven blends that combine structure with Margaux’s hallmark grace, capable of both early enjoyment and long ageing.
Since 1997, Château du Tertre has been owned by Dutch businessman Eric Albada Jelgersma, who also revived neighboring Château Giscours. His investment and stewardship have brought new energy and precision to this historic estate.
