Clos du Rouge Gorge
Founded by Cyril Fhal in 2002, Clos du Rouge Gorge is a small, highly regarded domaine in the Roussillon region of Southern France. Working with old-vine Carignan, Grenache Noir, and Macabeu, Cyril crafts wines that are admired for their purity, finesse, and sense of place — far removed from the heavy styles once associated with the area.
The vineyards are farmed following biodynamic and organic principles, with meticulous care to maintain living soils and biodiversity. Low yields, hand harvesting, and minimal intervention in the cellar ensure that each cuvée reflects the unique schist and granite terroirs of the Agly Valley.
In the winery, fermentations rely solely on indigenous yeasts, extraction is gentle, and élevage takes place in large neutral vessels. The result is wines of delicacy, vibrant fruit, and minerality, often compared to the great domaines of Burgundy for their elegance and precision.
Clos du Rouge Gorge produces a limited range of cuvées, each in tiny quantities, making them highly sought after by sommeliers and collectors worldwide.
