The 2023 Clos du Rouge Gorge “Col du Loup” Rouge is a delicate, Grenache Noir–based wine from the high-altitude vineyards of Roussillon, grown on gneiss soils. Crafted in a natural, low-intervention style, it reveals an elegant aromatic profile of dark berries, subtle leather, and wild Mediterranean herbs, supported by a fine mineral backbone. The palate is fresh and lifted, with moderate alcohol, silky tannins, and remarkable finesse, leading to a long and precise finish with excellent ageing potential.
More About The Winery
Clos du Rouge Gorge, managed by Cyril Fhal since the early 2000s, is located in Latour-de-France, Roussillon. Fhal cultivates appoximately 7.5 hectares of vineyards using biodynamic practices, focusing on indigenous grap varieties such a Carignan, Grenache, and Maccabeau. The vineyards are situated at altitudes between 150 and 200 meters on diverse soils, including schist and gneiss, which contribute to the wines' freshness and minerality. Fhal's meticulous approach in both the vineyard and cellar results in wines that are elegant, balanced, and expressive of their terroir.
