Tasting notes
A rare biodynamic white from Roussillon, produced under the Hors Champ project by Clos du Rouge Gorge. Sourced from old vines—often over 70 years old—of Macabeu or Grenache Gris planted on schist soils, this cuvée expresses remarkable purity and precision. The wine reveals delicate aromas of white pear, peach, citrus zest, and subtle Mediterranean herbs. On the palate it is tense and mineral-driven, with vibrant freshness, fine texture, and a long, saline finish that reflects the singular character of its terroir.
More About The Winery
Clos du Rouge Gorge, managed by Cyril Fhal since the early 2000s, is located in Latour-de-France, Roussillon. Fhal cultivates appoximately 7.5 hectares of vineyards using biodynamic practices, focusing on indigenous grap varieties such a Carignan, Grenache, and Maccabeau. The vineyards are situated at altitudes between 150 and 200 meters on diverse soils, including schist and gneiss, which contribute to the wines' freshness and minerality. Fhal's meticulous approach in both the vineyard and cellar results in wines that are elegant, balanced, and expressive of their terroir.
