Bonnes Mares
Bonnes Mares is one of Burgundy's rarest Grand Cru appellations, a 15-hectare vineyard straddling the border of Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis on the Côte de Nuits. Unlike its neighbour Musigny, known for finesse, Bonnes Mares produces a firmer, more muscular style of Pinot Noir — a reflection of its deeper, iron-rich clay soils layered over limestone.
The wines are built for the cellar: dense, dark-fruited, and structured in youth, with real tannic grip that softens over 10 to 15 years into something powerful yet refined. Because so little is produced each vintage, Bonnes Mares rarely appears outside specialist merchants and serious private cellars.
