Saint-Veran

Saint-Véran is a relatively young appellation in Burgundy's Mâconnais, created in 1971 from vineyards surrounding Pouilly-Fuissé that didn't quite meet that appellation's stricter boundaries. Far from a lesser wine, Saint-Véran has built its own reputation for fresh, vibrant Chardonnay — often more approachable in its youth than Pouilly-Fuissé, with bright orchard fruit and a lighter touch of minerality.

The appellation has become a favourite among sommeliers and value-conscious collectors alike, offering genuine white Burgundy character — real terroir, real Chardonnay expression — without the price premium attached to its more famous neighbour.
