The Hautes-Côtes de Beaune sits above the main Côte de Beaune escarpment, on higher, cooler ground away from the famous slope of village and Grand Cru vineyards below. For decades considered a source of simple, everyday Burgundy, the appellation has undergone a quiet transformation as growers — many of them also owners of prized plots lower down the hill — bring new attention and investment to these higher-altitude sites.

The result is fresh, vibrant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with real character, offering some of the best value in all of Burgundy for wines made with genuine care and, increasingly, from producers whose reputations were built on far more expensive appellations.
