Château Tertre Roteboeuf
Perched on a sun-drenched amphitheatre overlooking Saint-Émilion, Château Tertre Roteboeuf is one of Bordeaux’s most distinctive and admired Right Bank estates. Acquired in the late 1970s by François Mitjavile, the domaine has become legendary for its opulent, seductive wines that stand apart from classic Saint-Émilion style.
The vineyard covers 5.7 hectares, planted mainly to Merlot (85%) with Cabernet Franc (15%), on clay-limestone slopes that provide perfect conditions for late, slow ripening. Mitjavile’s philosophy emphasizes low yields, late harvests, and meticulous élevage in new oak barrels, resulting in wines of extraordinary concentration, velvet-like texture, and exotic aromatics.
Château Tertre Roteboeuf is celebrated for producing wines of richness and sensuality, often described as flamboyant yet balanced, capable of ageing gracefully for decades. Its singular style and limited production have made it one of the most sought-after names in Saint-Émilion and a true insider’s treasure among collectors.
