Tasting notes

This Gamay comes from 35-year-old vines grown in a rare, small parcel known as Les Capitans with granite soils. Semi-carbonic vinification and aged in tank to preserve its elegance, this is a light bodied red that fills the glass with evocative violets, pomegranate and blackberry aromas. Crushed gravel and banana make themselves present on the palate along with vibrant acidity. Most certainly fruit forward and most certainly my love dearest.

More About The Winery

Located in the heart of Beaujolais, Domaine du Clos du Fief is a 17-hectare family estate now led by Sylvain Tête, who returned after formative experiences at Château Thivin and Domaine Saumaize. Bringing fresh energy and vision, he works with permanent cover crops, under-vine cultivation, and small chenillard engines to farm even the steepest slopes with care and precision.

In the cellar, Sylvain remains true to Beaujolais tradition, employing semi-carbonic macerations and submerged caps, techniques that highlight the finesse and fruit purity of Gamay while ensuring structure and balance.

The wines of Clos du Fief are gaining attention for their authenticity, terroir expression, and ageing potential. As noted by William Kelley (The Wine Advocate):
"These new releases show considerable promise, highlighting the progress that has been made in the last few years, and it's clear that this is a domaine to watch."
