Tasting notes

The 2023 Domaine Bruno Clair Marsannay 'Les Grasses Têtes' is a structured, powerful red Burgundy with a deep ruby color. Dark mulberry, ripe cherry, and blackcurrant fruit mix with exotic spice, mineral notes, and fine oak. The palate is dense and fresh, with tannins that are firm yet soft, closing on a long finish.

Clear, bright ruby red with purple highlights. The nose is expressive and intense, showing black and red fruit — blackcurrant, sweet cherry, and raspberry — with accents of blood orange, earthy minerals, subtle spice, and a touch of elegant oak.

Medium to full-bodied, dense, and tightly wound with solid structure. Juicy dark plum and black fruit flavors are backed by vibrant, food-friendly acidity. The tannins are firm, fine-grained, and muscular yet approachable, recalling the structure of neighboring Gevrey-Chambertin. The finish is long, clean, and refreshing.

More About The Winery

Domaine Bruno Clair is one of Burgundy’s most respected domaines, with over 23 hectares of vineyards spread across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The estate produces exceptional Pinot Noir, alongside select parcels of Chardonnay and Aligoté, from regional Bourgogne to prestigious Premier and Grand Cru sites. Its most celebrated holdings include Bonnes-Mares, Corton-Charlemagne, and Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze.

The domaine’s history traces back to Joseph Clair, founder of the famed Domaine Clair-Daü in 1919. After its dissolution in 1985, Bruno Clair reassembled key parcels from his family’s vineyards in 1986, gradually expanding to include iconic terroirs such as Clos St-Jacques, Vosne-Romanée, and Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle.

Committed to authenticity, Bruno Clair practices sustainable viticulture, using only natural compost and avoiding chemical fertilizers. Vineyard selection focuses on old vines with natural disease resistance, ensuring both quality and longevity.

Today, Domaine Bruno Clair is renowned for wines that embody precision, elegance, and terroir expression, making it a benchmark estate for Burgundy enthusiasts worldwide.
