Grape
100% Pinot Noir
Tasting notes
A delicate, refined nose of red fruits and rose petals with a deeper layer of black fruit. The palate is silky and fresh, with crunchy fruit, fine tannins and well-integrated oak leading to an elegant, lingering finish. Fully destemmed and aged with a modest share of new oak, it is approachable after about 30 minutes of decanting, yet has the balance to develop further in bottle. Lovely with roast duck, guinea fowl or mushroom dishes.
About the Winery
Domaine Yvon Clerget is one of the oldest family estates in Burgundy, with the Clerget family growing vines in Volnay since 1268. Thibaud Clerget took over in 2015 and has brought new energy and precision to the domaine, which holds a fine range of Volnay Premier Crus along with parcels in Pommard Rugiens and Clos de Vougeot.
Carelle sous la Chapelle sits at the foot of the hillside just below the old chapel of Volnay. The grapes are hand-harvested, sorted in the vineyard and fully destemmed, giving a charming, finely textured Premier Cru that shows the finesse Volnay is known for.
