Racines

Racines is a groundbreaking collaboration between two of France’s most respected wine families. Led by Étienne de Montille and Brian Sieve of Burgundy and Rodolphe Péters of Champagne Pierre Péters, Racines unites Old World expertise with New World terroir to produce Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and sparkling wines of purity, elegance, and transparency.

This project marks the first venture outside France for both Étienne and Rodolphe. Drawn to the Sta. Rita Hills in Santa Barbara County, they discovered a cool-climate terroir capable of delivering the precision, finesse, and age-worthiness they sought. Using traditional French methods — native yeast fermentations, whole-cluster Pinot Noir, extended élevage, and minimal intervention — the team crafts wines that balance fresh acidity, minerality, and expressive fruit.

Racines has quickly become one of the most exciting new producers in the New World, proving that Sta. Rita Hills is a site where terroir-driven wines of Burgundian finesse and Champagne precision can flourish. The results are elegant, balanced, and collectible wines that resonate with sommeliers and collectors worldwide.
