Tasting notes

Silky, supple and expressive even in its youth, the 2014 will drink well with minimal cellaring. The high percentage of Merlot in the blend gives Pedesclaux lovely juiciness and much of its soft, easygoing personality.

"Amazing quality for here. Best wine ever. Superb balance of fruit and ripe tannins with velvety texture, yet this is tightly grained and luscious. What length." James Suckling

"The 2014 Pedesclaux has a tightly wound bouquet with redcurrant and crushed strawberry fruit, cedar and cigar box aromas filtering through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, plenty of black fruit laced with cedar and black pepper... It is a very capable vintage from the rejuvenated chateau." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

About the winery

The history of Chateau Pedesclaux begins in the early nineteenth century when Peter Pedesclaux purchased several parcels of vines and created the estate. Its wine was classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855. Jacky Lorenzetti and his wife Frances, looking to expand their wine holdings after the purchase of Chateau Lilian Ladouys, purchased the Chateau in 2008. Their goal has been to raise the wine to a more consistent and better level than at the time of the 1855 Classification. Located in the north of Pauillac, the vineyard covers 42 hectares of gravel on clay subsoil.
