Wine Region: Loire Valley - France
Grape: 100% Sauvignon.
Tasting notes: Classic golden nectar with over 100 grams of residual sugar, with burnished orange citrus and honey perfume and tempting hints of tarte tatin (for which it should make a delicious match). Fantastic balance between the sugar and the acidity!
About a winery: Domaine Regis Jouan is located in Sury En Vaux, one of 13 municipalities covering the Sancerre appellation. It is near the left bank of the Loire, a rich terroir with such a unique charm.
The average age of the southwest-facing vines is 25 years old. The clay and limestone soil date back to the Upper Jurassic era. This exposure shows the mysteries of Sancerre Jouan: a distinctly fruity aroma and a strong structure at the same time. The strict and careful vinification and aging in steel casks contribute to its character.
