Tasting Notes
The first nose immediately displays notes of plum, almond and dried flowers, reminding of late summer or early autumn. The wine slowly unfolds around bread and butter notes, showing patient aging in the cellars. Upon aeration, the expressive maturity is highlighted by exquisite aromas of baked apples, marzipan and quince jelly, accompanied by slightly “meaty” base notes.
The attack on the palate is petulant, refreshing and effervescent. The acidity brings liveliness and rhythm to the tasting, and later gives birth to a certain smoothness. Besides, the effervescence and the dosage are in unison and enhance the remarkable body and the overall warmth on the palate. Warmth, body and smoothness merge to create a singular texture akin to wool.
More About The Winery
Located in Moussy near Épernay, between the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, Champagne Tellier is a rising grower estate at the heart of the region. With 7 hectares in Moussy and Pierry (the historic Domaine des Conardins) and another 2 hectares across Chavot, Fontaine/Aÿ, and Cramant, the domaine farms 13 plots, each vinified separately to showcase its unique terroir.
The vineyards are planted primarily to Pinot Meunier (59%), balanced with Chardonnay (35%) and a touch of Pinot Noir (6%). Deeper soils over chalk in Moussy and Pierry give wines structure and length, while the chalky terroirs of Chavot, Aÿ, and Cramant bring elegance, minerality, and finesse.
A new chapter began in 2014, when the estate was acquired by the Moulin and Cathiard families, bringing fresh vision and energy. Today, Champagne Tellier is celebrated for Champagnes that combine power, elegance, and precise terroir expression, crafted with respect for nature and tradition.
