Tasting notes
La Maladière is a Premier Cru vineyard at the heart of the Santenay appellation in the southern Côte de Beaune. It is located immediately north of Santenay village, sitting on a fissured limestone base covered in a thin layer of loam on steep rocky hillsides, and shares a similar aspect with its eastern neighbor on the same slope: Beaurepaire. La Maladière is planted mainly to Pinot Noir (with a little Chardonnay), making richly-flavored, muscular red wines. The parcel was planted in 2013 and covers 57 ares. The ground is ploughed, the vines de-budded, trained, de-leafed, aerated and harvested by hand.
