Wine Region: Bordeaux - France
Grape:40% Cabernet Franc, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon & 26% Merlot.
Tasting notes:The grapes produced were ripe, rich and very aromatic. To the eye, the color is deep red almost black with purple reflections. On the nose, red fruits emerge, such as raspberry, then woody and spicy notes. On the palate, the attack is fresh, fruity and harmonious ending with silky tannins.

James Suckling 98/100
"Gorgeous aromas of crushed berries with orange peel. Fresh spices. Flowers. Salty. Full and so bright and vivid, with an elegance and beauty at the beginning and then it goes on and on. You see the intense fine tannins at the end. Dusty and bright. Unique wine. 55% whole cluster. 80% new wood, 10% amphora, and 10% foudra."

About the winery: Most Bordeaux aficionados will be very familiar with Pessac-Léognan stars, Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion. However, next door lies Château Les Carmes, named after the monks (les carmes) who owned it for 200 years. It came under significant new ownership in 2010, when Patrice Pichet bought it. He has since built a lavish, new, gravity-fed cellar and extended the vineyards considerably. Unusually three quarters of the grapes go into Le C and, of those, nearly half is Merlot. This gives the wine an intense fruit charm, while partial bunch fermentation (ie with stalks on) gives the wine a fresh sappiness.
